Tooling & Metrology Suite
A tool to track jigs, measuring instruments and production tools, and never miss a calibration deadline again. What matters comes first: the next shipment to prepare, what is overdue, and what is currently at a laboratory.
The problem
In this company, dozens of jigs, measuring instruments and production tools were spread over several lines, with no common register: everyone roughly knew where their tool was, nobody had an overview. Metrology shipments were decided case by case, through back-and-forth e-mails and phone calls with laboratories, and calibration dates, noted here and there, ended up forgotten. An audit eventually found several instruments past their verification date — the kind of non-conformity that directly threatens ISO 9001 certification. The tool now centralises every jig and instrument with its deadline, so no date gets lost between two departments.
The tool
A single register for jigs, measuring instruments and production tools, with their inspection interval, assigned line and usual laboratory. Each inspection goes through the same steps, tracked one by one: to schedule, shipment arranged, at the laboratory, result entered — and the next inspection schedules itself, at the right date.
How it works
- Single register: jigs, measuring instruments and production tools, with type, family, assigned line or station, owner and inspection interval.
- Prioritised dashboard: next tool to send, overdue items, deadlines within 30 days and tools currently at a laboratory — never calculated differently from one page to another.
- Step-by-step metrology tracking: arrange the shipment, confirm departure, enter the result on return (compliant or not, measured deviation, certificate reference) — the next inspection is scheduled automatically.
- Partner laboratories: specialities, average turnaround, accreditation and number of tools each one currently handles, internal Methods inspection included.
- Documents found: life records, certificates, drawings, reports and shipping notes indexed from the shared folder, linked to each tool.
- Retirement tracked: a retired tool is archived, never deleted — it stays viewable for traceability.
What it changes
- Fewer non-conformities: a jig or instrument past its calibration date is visible before use, not discovered afterwards.
- Shipments planned ahead: the next tool to send is always known, no need to check a separate spreadsheet.
- Full traceability: inspection history, certificates and documents linked to each tool, with no searching through scattered folders.
- Certification secured: verification deadlines no longer depend on anyone's memory — enough to pass an ISO 9001 audit with no bad surprise on measuring instruments.
- A register always up to date: continuously, instead of a spreadsheet that ages between two audits.
A tool that connects to the others
Each tool is already linked to a line or station, with an owner: this register can serve directly as a base for other tools.
- With theline balancing : each task can be linked to the jigs and instruments it uses. A tool away for calibration or retired immediately flags the tasks and stations concerned, so a replacement can be planned.
- With skills management : use of certain instruments can be restricted to trained, certified people, and tool owners tracked like any other skill.
- With quality management : a non-compliant result back from the laboratory can directly open a non-conformity, linked to the tool and its certificate.
Our demos are shown separately, but nothing prevents linking them. With a shared database, the tools can form a real intranet built around your business: each department uses its own screens, and information entered once is available everywhere.
